Description
Buddha Tonpa Shenrap Miwo had two daughters: Shenza Nechen and Shenza Nechung. Shenza Nechen was the elder and became a nun. Shenza Nechung was his younger daughter. This book contains her life story.
Escape From Darkness brings to light the first story of a female Bön practitioner by translating the life story of Buddha Tonpa Shenrap Miwo’s younger daughter, Shenza Nechung. Stories about female lay and nun practitioners in the Bön tradition are part of Bön texts and folklore but have not been disengaged from the texts or recorded. This book, an attempt to fill that void, is translated by Sangmo Yangri, Ph.D., a scholar, teacher, and translator at Lishu Institute, and the first Tibetan female to receive a Ph.D. in Tibetan Bön studies.
