Description
The Du Tri Su cycle’s Jang Chok ritual is a potent method for directing the deceased’s consciousness and shielding it from the Bardo’s terrors, the Bardo being the transitional state after physical death and before rebirth. The ritual, through its power and the practitioner’s absorption, prevents rebirth in the six realms of existence and protects the wandering consciousness. It guides the soul through the Ten Stages of Compassionate Beings and the Three Unsurpassable Spheres to attain the Three Bodies of the Awakened One.
This publication presents the inaugural complete English translation and transliteration of the Du Tri Su Jang Chok liturgy, including the original Tibetan. In the first section, Tempa Dukte Lama elucidates the various parts of the ritual, their significance, and how to prepare the torma offerings. The liturgy in the second section is thoroughly annotated, and ritual arrangements and torma offering images are included to aid practitioners.
The second edition includes a new Appendix with the Dedication prayer of wellbeing and transmigration, an additional picture, and the drum notation for the Shetral ritual. It has also has been revised to reflect a more common slightly shorter version of the Aspiration Prayer of the Ten Stages.
